The old town celebrates a traditional festival on the 3rd weekend of November, “La festa de la carxofa” (artichoke festival) .
The activities begin on Friday at 22:00 with the typical “Bollos” tasting (bread filled with artichokes) at Costera del Barco.
On Saturday at 10:00 the organization will do “la penjà de la carxofa” wich means they will hang a big artichoke in Calpí square.
At 13:00 sardines will be served to everyone there. The day will end up with a parade through the old town at 18:00 and music and dances from 22:00 onwards.
On Sunday flowers will be offered to la Mare de Deu del Sofratge. The parade will start at 12:45 at Constitucion Square and will end in San Jaime y Santa Ana church where a mass will be celebrated.
The end of the celebrations will be the “cremà de la carxofa” when the artichoke will be burned.
